Holmen Girls Golf State

The Holmen High School girls golf team punched its ticket to the WIAA Division 1 state tournament on Tuesday with a second-place finish at the Eau Claire Memorial Sectional at Wild Ridge Golf Course.

The Vikings shot a team score of 358, just two strokes behind sectional champion Hudson. This marks Holmen’s first state appearance since 2008.

Junior Anna Strasser led the Vikings with a fourth-place finish and score of 84. Junior Jayeanna Palm tied for seventh at 87, and freshman Julia McBride finished one stroke behind in a tie for 11th.

Holmen and Hudson will advance to the state tournament, which begins Monday at University Ridge in Madison.

Tomah finished eighth at the sectional with a team score of 417. Sophomore Karma Hasselberger led the Timberwolves with a score of 92, which tied her for 18th place.
